The things kids say...

That make their parents want to run away and hide.

I decided to go through with an interview to get EVILBOY a big brother.  The whole interview thing went pretty well, other than EVILBOY bouncing off the walls and answering each question as "Pokemon cards".

The case worker asked him "what kind of big brother would you like to have?".  I mouthed "Pokemon cards" in anticipation but instead my seven year old blurted out "I want him to have the same skin colour as me"

I stammered....uhhh he has lots of friends with all different skin colours.  I don't know why he said that.  We are not racist in this household.  We love everybody (except old people who cross the street diagonally in front of me... WHYYYY?)

I don't know where he comes up with this stuff. I think the worst part of it all was I became totally flustered by it.  I didn't know what to say other than point out all the facts that make us not racist like the time I subscribed to BET for a whole year before and that I think Mo'Nique is hilarious and deep...oh that woman is so deep. I also know the hand signals for East-side and West-side.

All kidding aside,  I was completely flabbergasted and I am pretty sure I didn't handle the situation as well as I should have.  I have come to realize that EVILBOY simply meant that he wanted his "brother" to have the same colour skin as him because we are both white.  I completely blew it out of proportion (embarrassingly), but I also want him to learn about diversity in families.
