Enough.

....and I think he's done.

He can fly, he can fly, he can flyyyyyyyyyyyyyy...

These kinds of pics are my favourite right now. I have a really hard time catching him in mid-air though. Could be two reasons... 1) my kid is not a very high jumper or 2) my kid is a super fast ninja jumper and he is much too quick to catch on camera. Mason - 1, Camera - 0

Looks Can Be Deceiving...

Don't let the angelic face fool you. This boy has left me wondering many times this weekend if he was switched with that kid from the exorcist.

Beware of the Shrek toothpaste!

One of the funniest things to come out of Mason's mouth had to be the time he tried Shrek toothpaste. It was on sale for .79 at the grocery store (now I probably know why!). I picked some up for Mason thinking he would just love it. What kid doesn't love ogres on their toothpaste tube right? On top of having a character on it, it also was bubble fruit flavour...how can you go wrong with bubble fruit??

That night he tried Shrek's bubble fruit before bed. He quickly spit it out and did that tongue scraping thing to ensure all the toothpaste reminants were off his tongue. It was almost as if he had tried a really hot toothpaste...chilli flavour! I just couldn't wrap my mind around it...bubble fruit...that's good right?

I decided to ask him a bit later what that toothpaste tastes like. Of course I couldn't just try it myself, I was afraid of this toothpaste after seeing his reaction. He looked me right in the eye, got all serious (which you know means business for a hyper 4-year-old) and quickly replied
"It tastes like shit."

I really wasn't expecting that answer! Normally if he doesn't like something he says it's bad. Then I did what any parent definitely should not do when their kid slips out a swear word...I burst out laughing. For some reason, he stayed completely serious. He really was not taking this toothpaste experience too lightly. Perhaps it does taste like shit?

I decided to leave the toothpaste on the counter. I am not ready to give up on this. I mean how can something flavoured "bubble fruit" taste like shit? It's really not possible. Somehow this has really traumatized Mason though. He constantly warns anybody who steps within a 3 foot radius of the offensive toothpaste that it tastes like shit. He comes to my work for lunch and announces to the whole office that Shrek toothpaste tastes like shit and everytime he goes to do his business in the washroom he comes out to announce that Shrek's toothpaste tastes like shit. He's not letting this go. I guess it's time to get rid of the toothpaste...any takers?

Easter

Despite the "rotten" Cadbury eggs we bought...Easter turned out to be pretty cool this year. Mason is really in love with the idea of a bunny bringing him chocolate eggs.

Mason's first swimming lesson of the year...

1st lesson this year, 3rd time being a "bobber". I decided to watch this class even though I have attended and watched over 3 billion of them when he failed his bobber class 2 times before. I just wanted him to know I was there and offer a little encouragement since he has been out of the class for a while.

Have you ever seen a cross between a jack russell terrier on speed and the pied piper? That is the best way I can describe how this boy swims. The funniest was when the teacher was telling the kids (Mason and a little girl) how to dunk their heads under water. Mason HATES water on his face so when it was his turn to dunk he turned so his back was facing the teacher and pretended to go under. Ohh the little sneak!

Let's change it up a little...

There have been numerous attempts to have a blog dedicated only to Mason. I think the one that has been consistent would be the one on his site. I have been wanting to keep a blog for him for a very long time now (4 years) but it always seemed like it wasn't good enough. I have decided that it doesn't matter. I am going to write down EVERYTHING about him because everything is so precious and I want to remember this stuff forever. Who knows, maybe he will even continue this when he is old enough. I also hope this will help keep our family updated. Working full-time and taking care of this little guy doesn't leave me much time to connect with family so my wish is for everyone to come here and read up on him when they want a "Mason fix".

Without further ado, I will introduce you to Mason "hedgehog".... Mason (or hedgehog as he likes to refer to himself as - his symbol at daycare) is 4 years old. He is probably the most interesting 4 year old I know because to me he acts like a little old man. Everything has to be just right around him or he has a little fit. I don't know why that reminds me of a little old man actually, but if you know him in person you will know what I'm talking about. He also has got to be, hands-down, the most STUBBORN kid I have ever met. I am not even kidding. He makes me wonder about my parenting skills all the time because he almost always wins the battles. I don't know how he does it but he could fight for what he wants all day. Me on the other hand, I give up a little too easily because I don't like conflict.

Mason is also a very emotional little boy. He struggles a lot with the death of his daddy and still does not understand that he is not coming back. He still thinks there is a doctor out there that can make things better. I can see why he would think that because from his understanding doctor's fix things. I just wish I could make him see this is not going to happen without the grief everytime he asks. He is also very protective and will constantly ask me if I'm okay whenever he is away from me and I talk to him on the phone. Some of his favourite things are cars, puzzles, disney movies, trains, wonder pets and going to the park. He just recently got into the whole puzzle thing and he amazes me with his puzzle skills! So that is my little star. He amazes me everyday and I hope to share all his amazingness with all of you!

Multiple personalities...

It's a hit or miss with this cat as to whether or not she is going to be affectionate or agressive. I found out today she is also....
Serious
...and silly!

Our favourite stuffies...

Mason and "Bear" - Mommy's favourite stuffy. Bear is in pretty rough shape because he was eaten by a dog. Plus the fact that he is probably over 20 years old now...he's starting to show his age
